Service Providing Center

The TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION JEWELLERY constitutes a non-profit making statewide organisation founded in 1979 with the main aim of offering support, advise, consultancy and services in the technical and technological realm to the small and medium spanish companies of fashion jewellery and metal processing sectors.

In order to carry out its functions and reach said objective, the Institute is consisted by the following sections:

• Trials laboratory and Quality Control.
• Industrial environment department.
• Design and tools production mechanization department.
• Trainig area.

As a part of the activities promoted by the training area, the ITEB is engaged currently, in developing the BISUFOR project. Its mains objectives are to contribute to the professional updating of the sector by creating stable structures for the analyses of training needs resulting of the technological innovation and by promoting actions orientated to its fulfilment.

As a prolongation of the activities programmed in BISUFOR, the ITEB has established a transnational partnership that has lead to the execution of the ITI-net project. One of its cooperation subject consists os exchanging experiences and knowledge so as to create sectorial services centres.

As for the specific collaboration ambit, ITEB provides a methodological and organizational model that has been strenghened by twenty years of close and steady relation with the companies of the sector. Said experience constitutes a framework of the intereset of the Ioannina local authority to create a service provision centre addressed to the silvery sector in Epiro (Grrece). In this respect, ITEB provides technical advice for the development of this essential facet of the Greek national project.

Monitoring Unit

One main activity of BISUFOR consists of the creation and setting up of a Monitoring Unit addressed to the fashion jewellery Industry, which main goals are:

• To carry out systematic studies of the evolution of technological innovations of interest for the sector, together with the resulting training needs.
• To advise companies, workers and persons searching jobs in the definition of specific training plans and in the selection, among the training supplies that are available, of the training programmes more adequate to their needs.
• To favour awareness among companies of the importance of training as a strategic factor for competitiveness and employment.
• To anticipate medium and long term training needs by carrying out sectorial studies which shed light on the criteria to follow

Developing monitoring units constitutes a common element among the difference nationals projects propoled by the members of the partnership. In this respect, each member provides in the ITI-net project framework their own tools and methodological models, in order to take advantage for their respective individual initiatives.

Awarness Activities

The awareness of the productive agents of the convenience of training and of their active involvement in the works of BISUFOR monitoring unit constitutes a necessary condition for the achievement of the aims that inspired the setting up of the project.

This conviction has given rise the ITEB to develop different initiatives of divulging and awareness. Among others, it has been carried out the following:

• Organisation of talks and meetings.
• Attendance to national and international fairs concerning training programs.
• Elaboration and edition of divulging materials.
• Insertion of information in press and in specialized publications.
• Setting up, therefore, of collaborations with organisms with domains in the training and employment realm.
• Creation of a WEB site for presenting the activities of BISUFOR, with a explicit mention of those of the transnational project.

Since this last activity constitutes as well a common trait of the whole activities promoted by the transnational partners, the collaboration established in the ITI-net ambit increases notably this divulging effect.

Definition of job  and skills specifications

The  exhaustive specification of the professional profiles of the fashion jewellery industry and the development of procedures and tools for the assessment of the level of knowledge and skills of each professional speciality, represent an essential framework for the activities to carry out by BISUFOR The comparison between these points, together with the analyse of the training program supplies enables the Monitoring Unit of BISUFOR to give technical advise and consultancy to the fashion jewellery companies.

From this point of view, the transnational co-operation within ITI-net project lets ITEB have access to methodologies used in France, concerning these subjects and permits also this organisation the access of the advise and expertise of ARCI in designing initiatives to carry out or in implementing means and tools adapted to the specific requirements of the Spanish fashion jewellery industry.

Moreover, ITEB collaborates with ARCI and the Ioannina local authority to determine the job and skill specifications of different emblematic professionals profiles of the jewellery industry, so as to carry out a comparative study of the features that they present in their own countries.

Adapting to new technologies

The current informational and communication technologies opens to the small and medium sized companies new posibilities concerning their essential facets and introduce new habits of working and managing. Aware of this respect, ITEB as an intermediate centre of support to the fashion jewellery, pretends to play an important role in promoting the growing assimilation of said techniques within the sector companies.

Addionally, these technologies have a relevant presence in the performance of the BISUFOR project. The creation of a relational data base as a integral managing tool of the information gathered and of the technical advise service, enables to consider the possibility to establish protocols of interconnection in order to allow the access to said data base.

As for ITI-net, the setting up of  a net for common explotation of said technologies represents one of the transnational co-operation ambits adopted in common agreement by the partnership members. The joint elaboration of the present page constitutes a tangible outcome of the developed collaboration.
